چکیده

The search for suitable alternative fossil fuel has been a challenge to the research community past two decades. So many alternatives have identified and tested. However, complete replacement cannot be provided without any penalties of cost, excess emission, poor operation, etc. alcohols gave new opportunity solution that problem but had some setbacks increased density lower octane number. present work focuses on striking balance between advantages disadvantages by using oxygenated additive with gasoline fuel. CeO2 along methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) offers advantages. seven samples, namely M10, M15, M20, M25, M20 + 50 mg/l, M20+100 M20+150 mg/l prepared tested spark ignition engine. Here, 10, 15, 20, 25 denote MTBE volume in blends 100 150 indicate blends. results shown only caused an increase 4% brake thermal efficiency M15 then improved 3% compared pure gasoline. Fuel consumption also reduced upto 9% 11% M15+150 maximum HC CO reductions observed from mg/l. It was up 19% 22%, 23%, 25% there CO2 emission level because excessive unburned reduction. proved suited all running conditions. having more amounts produce good combustion characteristics yet it should restricted within 20 vol.% CeO2.

The Effects of Ethanol–gasoline Blend on Performance and Exhaust Emission Characteristics of Spark Ignition Engines

The effects of unleaded gasoline and unleaded gasoline–ethanol blends on engine performance and pollutant emissions were investigated experimentally in a single cylinder, four-stroke spark-ignition engine with variable engine speeds (2600–3500 rpm). Four different blends on a volume basis were applied. These are E0 (0% ethanol + 100% unleaded gasoline), E3 (3% ethanol + 97% unleaded gasoline), ...

Toxicity of methyl tertiary-butyl ether on human blood lymphocytes.

Methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) is a synthetic solvent widely used as oxygenate in unleaded gasoline. Few studies have addressed the cellular toxicity of MTBE on some cell lines, and so far, no comprehensive study has been conducted to investigate the probable immunotoxicity of this compound. In this study, the toxicity of MTBE on human blood lymphocytes was evaluated. Blood lymphocytes were...
